| Schizoid Personality Disorder
Schizoid personalities are introverted, withdrawn, solitary,
emotionally cold, and distant. They are often absorbed with their
own thoughts and feelings and are fearful of closeness and intimacy
with others. For example, a person suffering from schizoid
personality is more of a daydreamer than a practical action taker.
A pervasive pattern of
detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of expression
of emotions in interpersonal settings.
Onset is usually early
adolescence or early adulthood.
Some of the typical signs
are:
- lack of desire of close
relationships
- solitary activities and
interests
- lacks close friends or
intimate relationships other than immediate family
- appears indifferent to
praise or criticism of others
- emotional coldness or
flat affect
- detached
- diminished libido
